Summary
Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) with sphincterotomy
has become a major technique in the diagnosis and
management of biliary and pancreatic conditions. Severe although
infrequent complications may however occur, and their recognition
and therapeutic management are of utmost importance. We report
a case of pneumoretroperitoneum in one female patient after endoscopic
sphincterotomy, together with a review of the literature.
